The ambience at this restaurant is very pleasant... beautiful decor throughout that is obviously professionally designed. Service was quick and attentive. The meal was more than enough food (my leftovers will last through two more meals!) and was very, very good. My only complaint was the overuse of garlic, making the oily mixture for the bread brought to the table incredibly spicy and inedible. The veal & shrimp parmigiana was very good, but the excessive garlic mean the fettucine alfredo was also borderline just too garlicy to finish. Garlic is wonderful but it can be overdone! The dense chocolate cake was very good and the Riesling was tasty. Overall very good and I would go back.

What an excellent restaurant. Our waiter, Pete, was extremely kind and did everything he could to make our meal great. Bread was brought out with garlic/herb oil and bruschetta, and our soups and salads came out very quickly. The pasta entrees were HUGE and all the food was delicious. No complaints from me. Would highly recommend.

Our go to Italian place in the area. The Johnny is the closest thing to a New Haven clam pizza.

Delicious Italian dishes. Best penne a la vodka ever! Everything is fresh. The kids got pizza and we tried it-Yum! The kids also loved the meatballs! Thank you!

My family has been hunting for the best pizza and this place had good reviews so we tried it. We went at about 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The place was crowded with lines. 20 min wait to be seated so we decided to get it to go and told it would be 40 minute wait. The employees were nice besides being obviously overworked. Surprisingly the other customers were nice. One guy let us cut him in line and the older clientele were pleasant even though we were in their way. Since there was a large crowd, my tip is to speak up with the hostess as the people in front of you may already have been addressed. We got a large 18incher with just plain cheese and a dozen garlic rolls. The rolls are huge so we would have been good with the small order of six. The pizza is thin crust compared to places like papa johns. On the website they claimed to use new york water, so I was looking for the difference. About half way through the first slice I noticed a little twang in the taste - maybe that is it. In any case, the pizza and the rolls did not rock the socks off my family - not bad, but not life-changing either. With probably a hundred plus pizza places in Palm Beach there should be at least one damn good place. Guess we're still on the hunt. p.s. - They had these gorgeously huge Tiramisu on display. It was seducing me and I really had to use alot of self control to resist paying the $7.00 for it.

I don't usually take the time to review a restraint but this one was so good I had to take the time. The food is good with amazing portions and very fair prices. It is always nice to go to a restaurant that has good service and a great atmosphere. People surrounding you seem to be enjoying their food and the friends there with. The owner named one of his dishes after is first born daughter Zoey so you know that dish is amazing. If you are in the area, please try and you will be back often.

Excellent food, had the Zuppe de Pesche, excellent portion too much food. Service is hit and miss from my experiences. They also make excellent eggplant parmesan. The balance between price and service is a delicate balance. The make your own bruschetta is very delicious. This is served as a table appetizer. The food is authentic but higher prices make it tough based on your experiences. The decor is nice and it generally serves the local upscale communities. A must try Italian restaurant.

We were told by a few clients that this place had great pizza and italian food, so we figured we'd give it a shot. We showed up last night for a late dinner, about an hour before they were scheduled to close. We walked in and were very rudely informed that they were closed. Now, I can understand closing early if business is slow, but at least be nice, or God forbid, apologetic to a customer that just drove 20 mins, only to be denied service. Smiles are free! Enough to turn us off to the point where we will not be back. Whether or not their food is good, at this point, I could not care less. Should have gone with our first choice: Tucci's in Boca!

Classic Italian food served in huge portions. Salad is always fresh and crisp. Bruschetta is well seasoned. I enjoy the whole wheat pasta primavera. Loaded with fresh veggies in a nice sauce. Servers are friendly and very accommodating.

This is an amazing restaurant. The waitstaff is efficient but lack personality. I've been here a dozen times and I think the good is special. The chicken Parmesan is the best ever. Also, the rosemary infused oil the serve with the fresh bread is very aromatic. Will continue to be a regular.

My mother's admonishment to arrive by 5pm was spot-on, as this restaurant is deeply beloved by the dwellers of the local retirement communities. This can serve as a lesson to better heed one's mother, as our 5:30pm arrival was rewarded by a 25min wait. (Her advice about taking a sweater would also have been better heeded... The restaurant's air conditioning is generously applied). The restaurant's generosity exends to their portion sizes and to the number of little extras that they graciously provide. It would be easy to fill up on the bread basket alone - the warm loaves are accompanied with savory balsamic chopped tomatoes, as well as an olive oil that is infused with parsley and enough garlic to make a vampire faint, had one been lurking in the shadows. This is a feature, so far as I'm concerned; I am now fairly confident in my immune system's ability to handle the 4 plane flights in my week ahead. Even so, I sought out yet more garlic; my broccoli was cooked just to a perfect dark green, and then lovingly adorned with more garlicky al olio. I ordered eggplant parmegiana, which had a beautifully piquant and slightly sweet marinara atop the tenderly cooked and breaded eggplant. There were sumptuous-looking cakes in the dessert case, but frankly I'm not sure who would have had room. My one culinary quibble was with the Chopped Salad, whose vegetables appeared to have been chopped a day or two previously. And really - iceberg lettuce, in this day and age? It would be lovely if they would spring for some nice spring mix, or at least a middle of the road romaine. A word of caution to the seizure or migraine prone - "Flickering lights" is a significant part of the restaurant's decor, even discounting for the Christmas lights. And speaking of discounts, there are none to be found here - the bill for our family of three topped $100! Plus there is a $10 charge for plate-sharing, so don't look to save money there. This is at least offset by the fact that you'll have enough leftovers for dinner tomorrow.

This was a very nice place to have dinner it was my first time there are waitress Paula it was excellent..,lots of good food to have the bruschetta and garlic bread could've been my entire meal but I did order some Parmesan and some of the other people at the table ordered the chicken and mushroom dish with Marsala wine would smell delicious... The salads were great the portions were large and the cappuccinos were excellent. I plan to come back again it's just Lyons Road.

Boy do I wish this restaurant wasn't 3,000 miles away from my house, I would be here ALL the time!! My husband and I come here once a year when visiting relatives in South Florida and it's always one of the food highlights of our trip. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The service is friendly and accommodating. And the food is out of this world!! We always get whole wheat spaghetti with spicy marinara sauce and mushrooms (this particular combo isn't on the menu but they're more than happy to throw it together for us). The dish is absolutely delicious...savory, juicy mushrooms, perfectly cooked pasta, and a rich, incredibly flavorful marinara sauce. And the portion sizes are HUGE, which is fantastic since the food tastes just as spectacular the next day. The entree comes with a very fresh chopped salad and we also order a side of steamed spinach that we toss in with the spaghetti. Very hip of them to offer steamed veggies and whole wheat pasta. Every aspect of the meal is delightful and delectable. Definitely a great place to go for hearty portions of amazing Italian food and nice glasses of wine served up in a relaxing, homey atmosphere.

Something for everyone. They put out a nice olive oil and fresh garlic dip with soft home made bread. Stromboli or calzone is only $10.00 other dishes are twice that but huge portions so you get your money's worth.

I was in the area with my boyfriend and we decided to give this place a shot. We were debating between that and a Chinese restaurant in the plaza. Then a lady who had been in the restaurant stuck her head out the door and said she eats here all the time and the food is great. She said we would not be disappointed. They put a soft loaf of bread on the table along with a side of oil and garlic and another side of tomatoes. It was like making our own bruschetta. For dinner we both had veggie pizza. I ordered my pizza without cheese because I don't eat animal products. The pizza was delicious. The service was good. The waiter checked on us frequently. The only thing I think they should change is they serve water is a blue glass so the staff can't really see it is empty unless they come by the table and ask. I would go back for sure.

I love this place. The chicken parm is great! My favorite is the garlic/rosemary/olive oil dip they bring out with the bread. Put a little grated cheese on that and it is out of this world! Usually have excellent service... The other night was the exception, not the norm. The waiter was a little distracted and had to be asked for things more than once.. It happens. Usually the wait staff goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!!

Seriously, 8:10 on a Friday evening, we were driving by and I said "I've always wanted to try out this Mama Mia's because I used to love the one on lake worth road". We pulled in, parked the car. Thought it would be calm on a Friday night in the summer at this time of night ( no snowbirds right now) but NO! It was packed! We sat down and we were quickly welcomed and asked what we'd like to drink. House Chardonnay and Miller Lite. Then water, bread, FRESH bruschetta, oil with mixed herbs and FRESH baked bread was promptly delivered. We ordered. Special pizza (five items) and a bowl of minestrone soup. Soup hit the spot. Bruschetta with baked bread was unbelievable. Yum, yum, yum. Then the pizza was delivered. I ate an entire slice, even after consuming 2 slices of fresh bread and bruschetta. Oh! And the soup too. Everything was phenomenal. Seriously. The ambiance ( gas light lanterns lit throughout the restaurant, with beautiful brick walls) was relaxing and highly enjoyable. We truly anticipate our next visit to this very fine Trattoria!

I've never dined in here but I've done takeout several times. The pizza, wings, and pasta are great. They use New York water with gourmet cheeses. The red sauce isn't overly acidic and it tastes great- and my heartburn thanks them for the low acidity... Heart burn sufferers rejoice- no heart burn to be had from this place yet. We will be back again and again!

I have been here before and the food is 90% of the time delicious. We went with a couple this weekend who has never been and on the ride we raved about the bread and the chicken parmesan, they were very excited to eat Italian food that tasted like it was Italian and not this Florida version that is sweeping this state. We sat at the bar because there was four seats open. We were greeted with what can I get you to drink we looked at the wine list (which wasn't very impressive) and ordered a couple glasses. After ordering fried calamari I asked the bartender for extra lemon, if I waited for the lemon to come I might still be there. Our entrees came out and they were delicious as always but not once did he check on us. Now I may not own a restaurant but judging by the bartender i'm assuming the owner of this mamma mias must not know how to own one either. Anyone who hires someone with a bad attitude to be the face of your restaurant (because that's exactly what the bartender is they set the tone) must not know how to run a great establishment. Food was good but I would never come here on a weekend and sit at a bar and grab some dinner which is too bad because this would have been a spot I would have regularly visited. Next time ill just order take out if I order anything at all.

I buy pizza for takeout. It is constantly excellent. Coming from a former Brooklynite, a good compliment.

Mamma Mia's is a traditional Italian restaurant, similar to a Sal's or Carlucci's. They give you tons of food at these places, food that well...is better off not eaten considering it's high fat/carb content. Still the quality of food is good, I had the Chicken Parmesan and it was slightly above average. Service was decent, so overall a good experience, will try again when I plan for the large meal.

Food is just ok...however, portions are huge for those that like quantity over quality. Service and decor score high. I didn't care for their tomato sauce.

Great pizza and friendly staff/owners. Cannoli made me think I was back at Grandmas in Brooklyn. Tables outside with view of beach. Salads large and tasty. Small, but reasonably priced wine selection. Try the Sangria.

I'm not a review type of guy but I had to this time. The Food is delicious here, the salads stand out, they are so fresh ! They make homemade bread with homemade bruschetta and a garlic oil dip that is to die for. It makes you want to come back over and over (please go try it for yourself) The pizza is one of a kind and I've tried numerous dishes here and every time I leave extremely satisfied . All around absolutely delicious in every department

Soon was we walked in I knew I would like this place the decor is very nice and upscale and very clean the staff was super friendly we sat at the nice bar and ordered the lunch special 2 Slices of Pizza and Beer or Soda for $5.50 you cant beat that and just 1 of there Slices filled me up it was huge It was coal fired and cooked perfectly.. I do not have 1 complaint about this place.. I have been on a mission to find the best pizza place in Palm Beach and for a NYC style thin crust this is hands down the best...

One slice of pizza with a choice of salad or soup and a beverage for $5.50 isn't bad. The pasta fagioli soup wasn't good, but the others were. I came here years ago for a baby shower and the food that time was better than what I had this past week. Maybe I wasn't in the right place at the right time, but it won't hurt me if I don't come back here. I prefer to go to the Mamma Mia's on Woolbright. That place is YUM!

My favorite Italian restaurant in South Florida. We go here for lunch every week. Awesome food, friendly service, nice atmosphere and huge portions and I've never had a bad meal here. This place is worth it! My favorite is the penne al vodka.

The best Italian food and pizza around. Great lunch specials and lunch menu. You will leave stuffed and happy. The frutti de mare is the bomb as well as the francese. Don't miss the pasta fagioli.

Mamma Mia's Trattoria is our favorite!!! We recently discovered Mamma Mia's, and we have been dining there regularly ever since. We also just had our school's staff holiday dinner party at Mamma Mia's Trattoria as well. It was amazing! The food was 5 STARS (as always)...the atmosphere was 5 STARS (as always)...and the service was 5 STARS (as always)! Whenever we dine at Mamma Mia's, we are quickly reminded that great Italian dining has finally reached Western Palm Beach County! Give Mamma Mia's a visit...you won't be disappointed.

Inside the restaurant is attractive and tasteful. Service is good and staff is warm. Pizza is wonderful. Taste as good as any pizza the can be bought on the streets of Brooklyn! Lots of oil and wonderful, nearly perfect blend of cheese and tomato sauce. Have not found a better tasting pizza in South Florida.

  • Scott L.

I have had a lot of inconsistency here, from food to service. Unfortunately, this can not be overlooked as consistency is a big deal for me when choosing a restaurant. If I want to gamble, I go to a casino. If it is a good night get the Giambotta.

    (3)
  • Bob M.

Their food and service is great but they have a policy not to accept "Mamma Mia Trattoria" gift cards as cash payment for coupon specials. It would be better if this restaurant treated their own gift cards as cash for all meal purchases.

My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant on January 16, 2013. We have eaten here before and I was not disappointed. On this visit, we ordered the Mama Mia Eggplant and the Lobster Ravioli. This place is always busy at dinner time, and even when they are busy, the waitstaff is attentive. My waterglass never emptied, and the food was delicious. My meal (the eggplant dish) was huge, and was enough for another dinner the following day. My husnad wishes his portion of lobster ravioli was larger, but he enjoyed it. It's close to home, consistently good food and service, and we will return again.

Salad was ok, the eggplant parm sub was the worst, all breading! Pasta was just ok, grilled chicken sub was yucky. Chicken marsala was ok, big portion.

  • Jim M.

Atmosphere: quiet but noisy on this day because of an engagement party...this is a trattoria, not a ristorante.......Food ...delivery is good...they were short handed today....I have eaten there four times....same menu...minimal imagination.....food was below average because the tomato sauce was not tasted by the chef.....they should ask "Mamma" back for a tuneup....stick with the pizza....best for me that night was the braciole..(limestone wedge with salad dressing on the side)....no imagination in the presentation.....Too bad ...the place could do with fewer items with more care to the food preparation......

Mamma Mia'a is located in a new strip center near Publix and several senior communities. Wait a minute, I just described half of Palm Beach County! As typical as this place sounds and feels from the outside, the inside surprised me. The inside had nice ambiance and was very classy. The service was outstanding and very willing to help in any way possible. I went with my parents who told me their service has really improved as it did not used to be this good. I ordered a combo of three different items. The baked ziti was excellent. Their lasagna is very hardy, with lots of beef. Personally, not my thing, but if you like beefy lasagna, you'll love it here.

  • TR L.

Not totally impressed with my first visit. We ordered a sicilian pie, with onions, mushrooms, and extra cheese. It was brought to the table a little overdone and the crust was a bit charred and hard to cut into. However, the calamari off the appetizer menu is to die for; one of the best I've had anywhere. They were considerate and took the pizza off the bill. I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
